HOW TO IMPLEMENT REMOTE OFFICE

One of the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic has been teleworking, which has also been well received and is already a reality in the structure of companies. But to achieve this, technology has had to be applied, creating what is called a remote office or remote desktop.

What is a remote office

The remote office is a technology that allows work on a computer from any other device that is in a different place. 

This means that when we connect this device, which can be another PC, mobile, or tablet,  what appears on the screen is the desktop of the first and we will control it as if we were in front of it.

Another characteristic of using this work system is that no one can enter that terminal while we are using it. To achieve what we are describing you have to use specific software.

If the correct technology is used, the remote office is secure and allows functions such as teleworking.

Therefore, using a cyber security strategy is essential for the company to minimize the risks posed by a cyber attack by hackers.

Use updated software so that possible vulnerabilities will be very weak.

Use VPN (Virtual Private Networks).  This will make it more difficult for third parties to access company information.

Access using strong passwords to reduce the chances of hacking.

Block the account if there are a certain number of unsuccessful attempts with which the user tries to enter that account.

Implement double factor authentication.  You can use a system in which you have to enter username-password and then the fingerprint or a code assigned momentarily.

Change the RDP port. There is a default port assigned to connect that can be changed to hinder any attack by cybercriminals.

Install a firewall. We will achieve that there is an IP filtering system so that only those belonging to the company can access it.

With the use of remote desktop,  the software used will be the same for the entire company,  for example, in terms of the operating system, ERP, etc.

If we have an incident,  the technical team will be able to access our work environment to solve it, perform maintenance tasks or install new programs.
